Session Zeros are always so great. It feels like the beginning of the school year, where there's so much optimism and promise before things ultimately devolve into Monty Python.
I'd even argue it's a good idea to have refresher "session 0s" every now and then. I found its helped a lot, since my party sometimes veer off tracks a little if we play consistently for long enough. Prick.
I used to dread doing session Zeroes mainly because we usually did not know when we would be getting together again to game, and we did not have time to game after. BUT, playing some games online constantly and having a good in person game that is consistent helped, and feel it is necessary if you want to have a longterm game now. BTW, I've played with people who were easily triggered by dad jokes (lol)
I freaking love your videos! Production is top-notch and you're definitely my go-to recommandation for short and to the point TTRPG explanation! I haven't played in more than a week and I already miss it 😭 But videos are helping a bit
yeah new video that i can watch during work *happy* Session 0 for me feel like "we are now starting something new" and "get players on the same idea what will happen". In my current campaign (Strange Aeons from pathfinder which i play with shadow of the demonlord rules) i told them that they will start with Anmesia...and that they will roll their ancestry and first class / path so they spend the first real session in figuring out "where are we" and "who am i" which took a while since one of them is a cambion and he has no wings and is not as red as Hellboy.
@@pedsdro This is nowhere TV and Movie Quality. When youtubers do it its become a mainstream idea to put the viewer in a pov perspective and it utilized tooo much in alot of videos made lately.
Hey Dan, its Sarah. Loving this.

Calm down Dan, don’t lose your head.

Not only that but if on Discord stupid memes!! Bloody memes!!
@@DexSaveDan You should give your players the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they didn't meme to offend you.
You're my new favourite person.

This is a good idea! Go to top of the class.
Best idea. Love a refresher!! Video idea right there!!
Random encounters, NPC reactions, and NPC motivation
Without a doubt.
My everyday life is being a wizard in a non-magical world.
Crap spells for life!!
7:33 surprise doggo

Not a prick.... legend
Love you!
Love a session 0. Always good times.
A Wizard in a non-magic world who is able to identify any music they hear. But Shazam exists
Yes! Can name the Best Boys in every movie ever made but never the director or actors.

Completely agree with the need for a Session 0 to clarify things and create characters
7:33 best boi appeared!
RUclips is here for you!!
He is the bestest boi!!
@@DexSaveDan indeed and it's helping a lot 😊
I played a solo session zero with each player (they were all fresh newbs) it allowed me to engage them with the world one on one and very personally.
basically we played the last part of their backstory
F**cking love this! Although I know a few people who won't have time for this.
yeah new video that i can watch during work *happy*

This is great!! So good!!
@@DexSaveDan forgot to add: they started with an empty character sheet (i rolled stats and stuff for them in session 0)
what about second breakfast?... and elevenzies?
Both? In what order?
@@DexSaveDan hm i think second breakfast is before elevensies
Agreed!
Good stuff
Thanks!!
Dan.... very very important question... WHAT IS YOUR DOG'S NAME
It's the most important question! His name is Eddie, he's named after Eddie Valiant from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
@@DexSaveDanabsolutely brilliant. What a lil cutie!
5e character sheet or as I like to call it...the 2025 tax form.
Isn't it though?! Gives me the willies.
Eddie!
Woof
My session zero goes into session 1 by the end of the session zero. Not that you asked.
I don't need to ask! Your input is more than welcome! Agreed, have done the same, not every time but when it felt right. You know when it feels right.
I cant stand the whole camera changes .
It’s ok. We can’t stand you.
You must hate watching TV shows and movies, they change cameras on those A LOT!
